Today I, being the uneducated sort, asked my co-workers why
I’d want to be a werewolf if there were no female werewolves (in the world of “Twilight”)?
I was told that there are female werewolves and that one, Leah Clearwater,
would appear in the next film. So the question became: Will female werewolves
in the “Twilight” films take on the similar character traits (shirtless and tattooed) as her
male cohorts? Or will she appear in the ... Read More

''The Blind Side'' is based on the true story of Michael Oher (Quinton Aaron), an underprivileged African-American boy of remarkable size, and his rise from the Memphis slums to become a first-round NFL draft pick in part because of the kindness of the white and well-to-do Leigh Anne Tuohy (Sandra Bullock) and Sean Tuohy (a clean-shaven Tim McGraw).''The Blind Side'' has been touted as Sandra Bullock's breakout role, similar to what ''Erin Brockovich'' was for Julia Roberts. From its earliest days, rock 'n' roll has always been about shakin' hips and gettin' chicks. But not heavy metal. Metal is all about death and destruction and the Evil One. You know, the cool stuff.Though plenty of bands are fueled by dreams of wizards, warlocks, and the apocalypse, Chicago instrumental trio Russian Circles draw inspiration from the author of the real-life end of the world for their third album, ''Geneva.''''We were intrigued by the biography of Oppenheimer thro... When I caught part of Tiesto's set in 2002 at the Area2 Festival in Denver, I was only vaguely aware of who he was (due to his remix of Delerium's collaboration with Sara McLachlan on ''Silence''). I was far too focused on seeing David Bowie to really take note of Tiesto's skills or style, but in the intervening years Tiesto became a very familiar name as he played at the opening ceremony in Athens for the 2004 Olympic Games, was hailed by BPM magazine as top the top DJ in the ... It's hard to figure where The Mary Onettes fit in. They aren't traditional synthpop and they don't exactly fit into either the shoegazing or dream pop genres. This isn't a bad thing. I prefer it this way. It just makes ''Lost'' rather difficult to accurately write about. So imagine if 4AD-era Clan of Xymox were to abandon the darkness for a brighter sound and a more straightforward vocal (vocalist Philip Ekstrom has drawn comparisons to a-ha's Morten Harket). I suppose this lum... Read More

After toning things down a bit on their last record, identical twins Tegan and Sara Quin ratchet up the intensity on their sixth album, ''Sainthood.'' The tone is established immediately, with the edgy synths and pointed lyrics of the first track, ''Arrow.'' Salt Lake City's Steady Machete throws a curve ball on the opening track of their debut full-length. ''Control is Beneath Us'' wants to push the band into dance rock territory, when their real home is the spacey, slightly dark and moody, rock arena. The second track, ''Bonnie Parker,'' is more representative of the record as whole, with its fuzzed-out bass riff and vocals floating around in the ether. The album's title track and centerpiece, ''Riots,'' also proves the band isn't a... Read More

What does one say about one of the most lauded concert films of all time that hasn't already been said? I just didn't get the Talking Heads, but I always felt like I should. I hadn't seen ''Stop Making Sense'' until it was released on DVD.
